Vancouver singer-songwriter Myk Gordon has released his latest single “Brand New Love” in anticipation of his forthcoming album Born To Be. Check it out on YouTube here:
The guitar and drums-driven track features an air of steady feel-good rhythms with complimenting harmonies. In true Americana style, Gordon’s earthy voice drifts in and out of solid guitar features, leaving listeners with a medley of genres, including the styles of blues, roots, and punk. “Brand New Love” talks of the trials of love and of brighter horizons. Gordon explores the idea of moving forward, dreaming of love, and the kind of love one can offer.
“I can give you healing love
The kindest touch
The beauty of…”
“Brand New Love” comes as the album’s second single after the recently released title track “Born To Be.” In the album’s first single Gordon questions:
“Aren't we, aren't we ever free?
Aren't we, Aren't we born to be?”
The single is accompanied by a well-thought-out music video that pays homage to Bob Dylan’s 1965 promotional film for "Subterranean Homesick Blues." In his video, a range of different individuals are featured, aimed to represent the universal longing for freedom.
Between the song’s featured powerful guitar riffs, Gordon creates a fictional story and speaks to the struggles of surviving life’s obstacles and shares it through well-crafted lyrics and commanding vocals.

You can expect no less in his soon-to-be-released album. Gordon’s decades of songwriting experience shine through the tracks, and so too does his expert grasp on the Americana genre. Gordon travelled to Portland to record the full-length album, Born To Be, and itcomes as his second collaboration with multiple Grammy Award-winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos.
The singer-songwriter’s comprehensive skill set is spread among other pursuits aside from his musical career. He is a psychotherapist, a 6th dan Aikido teacher, and an internationally recognized author and scholar. Still, nothing stops him from his pursuit of writing and performing great music. Unsurprisingly, the well-seasoned artist has set foot on concert stages across the globe and performs across festivals, and now his latest masterfully crafted body of musical work will soon be yours.
