So this summer, dark romance duo Folly & The Hunter returned from hiatus with fresh energy and a hot hand of polished, sophisto, cinematic indie-pop, led by the gritty new single, “Remains”. The Montreal based band of multi-instrumentalists Laurie Torres (Rae Spoon, Little Scream, Land of Talk) and Nick Vallee are way pumped on the release of upcoming album, Remains, dropping Oct.26

Remains is filled with striking melodies and tightly woven rhythms which come together to stay memorable. Recorded over 2 weeks at the Tragically Hip’s Bathhouse Studios, the goal was to get the band sequestered into a studio without outside distractions and have them live and breathe the making of this album. Engineer Nyles Spencer was a source of technical inspiration with Nick handling bass and guitar duties while Laurie played most of the other instruments. Mathieu Parisien (Karkwa, Patrick Watson, Aidan Knight) mixed the album.

Lead single and album title-track, “Remains”, is the track that catalyzed their new upbeat feel. Organically grown out of an improvisation, experimenting with grittier sounds and more driving rhythms, moving the group past the stylistic constraints of previous work.

Like a breath of fresh air, stirring the soul while soothing the heart; hauntingly beautiful melodies wrapped in harmonies as warm as a mid-winter fire- there's a telling familiarity to the themes explored in 'Golden Hour'- the debut release from powerhouse Newfoundland folk duo Quote The Raven. Comprised of the pairing of emotive vocalist Jordan Coaker and haunting songstress Kirsten Rodden-Clarke, "aptly titled 'Golden Hour' is the physical embodiment of right place, right time, right people." Crafted alongside virtuoso producer Chris Kirby, and featuring an embarrassingly high caliber of Canada’s songwriting elite – Gabrielle Papillon, Ian Janes, Charlie A’Court, Keith Mullins, Chris Kirby, Stephen Green, Aaron Green, and Dwight D’eon"Golden Hour is as much a statement piece of a pair of hungry musicians ready to hit the stratosphere as it is a tremendous artistic achievement."

New York, October 24 - Find a van. Drive to upstate New York. Record a new album in two days. Eat tuna sandwiches. Swap the tuna with hummus. Too spicy. Throw away expired half and half. Come back to New York. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Wait, no, that’s not right. Wait a year to release the record. The perks of being an indie band.

Your favorite indie queens T-Rextasy are back with Prehysteria, ten bangers that are the result of that fateful trip upstate. The much-anticipated follow-up to their critically acclaimed Jurassic Punk debut, Prehysteria is out 1/3 on the digital maze we call the internet. Everything and nothing has changed: their songs are still pop-punk empowering anthems, blistering with unhinged humor and quirky lyrics, mixing theatrical smarts with a streetwise attitude. Hints of ska, reggae, and pop-punk powered by Lyris Fanon’s idiosyncratic voice and impeccable riffs make for a high energy, hard-rocking but sugar-coated new record about growing up and realizing high school never ends.

Creativity, style and power. Those are just a few of the elements that Sweden-based artist Eleonor Léone brought to the table during Newfoundland’s first edition of the international music festival Live At Heart. Together with her DJ and best friend Alexandra, the duo set off for Canada in a major step towards bringing their music to the world stage.

At the age of 5 Eleonor joined a musical group that toured all over Scandinavia and since then she hasn’t looked back. Making appearances in all kinds of shows from musicals to dance productions, (‘FAME’, ‘Me and my girl’, and ‘Moderskärlek’ to name a few) Eleonore has always had a love for performing. In fact, she has gone above and beyond performance to take on other roles in the industry such as choreographer for productions in De Geerhallen, collaborations with various fashion shows as well as working with the Symphony Orchestra in Norrköping. It’s safe to say that Eleonor Léone is fearless and has decided early on to make a life out of doing what she loves.

LyricFind seals deals with Brazil’s main publishers and PRO creates new legally licensed market for Brazilian lyrics.

Brazil is Latin America’s largest music market, and now its writers and publishers will be paid for lyric displays online thanks to LyricFind. These partnerships embrace major publishers like Som Livre and MK Music, as well as UBC, Brazil’s largest Performing Rights Organization, and finally Brazil’s biggest digital distributor, ONErpm. In the near future, these publishers will also have the opportunity to see their lyrics licensed on shirts, mugs, and other wares through LyricFind’s direct-to-fan platform, LyricMerch.

“Brazil’s music business is significant, accounting for over 15% of the revenue generated in South America. It is by far the largest Portuguese speaking/singing market in the world,” notes LyricFind’s VP of Music Publishing Robert Singerman. “In addition to a dedicated representative working on the ground to cultivate relationships in Brazil, LyricFind’s content team in Toronto, has Brazilian employees verifying and implementing Brazilian and Portuguese content,” - this legitimacy being a key aspect of LyricFind’s approach to vetted lyrics and lyric translations.
