Tragedy Ann The Last Thing

Here’s an act with that cozy fall sound just right for the season. Guelph-based award-winning duo Tragedy Ann, (Braden Phelan and Liv Cazzola), release a new video on August 17th, for their first single “The Last Thing,” from their upcoming debut full-length album Matches. The beloved alt/folk duo will support the new album with a tour in Canada (ON, QC, BC, NS, NB), and with stops in Toronto (release concert at Burdock Oct 13), Hamilton, London, Oakville, Montreal, Vancouver and others.

The video for “The Last Thing,” (audio and video by Sam Boer), is a simple but totally effective idea: Two people, two voices, two instruments, and one continuous shot to capture their heartfelt performance of an excellent song they wrote about the push and pull of a romantic relationship that may or may not be imminently ending. These days, that’s practically revolutionary.

Melbourne, Australia's Oh Pep! are back with their sophomore effort, I Wasn't Only Thinking About You..., out October 26th on ATO Records. Today, the duo share the second single and accompanying video - "Hurt Nobody." 20-year-old director Emily Dynes led an all-female team in the production of the video saying, "'Hurt Nobody' touched me from the very first time I heard it. The song encapsulates a very guttural, raw and female type of pain, so it felt like the natural fit to bring together a young female-led team of creatives for the project. It was an absolute privilege to work on such a beautiful song for a band I deeply admire, and a complete joy to spend three days shooting and dancing across the mountains in the alpine region of Victoria, Australia." The video features performer Cecilia Low.

Oh Pep! will be out on tour throughout North America, Australia and Europe with both headlining dates and dates supporting Gregory Alan Isakov and Middle Kids. Leg one kicks off in San Francisco on October 6th in support of Gregory Allen Isakov and includes headlining date in Toronto on October 29 at Baby G's

Toronto's Greasemarks

Toronto’s rockabilly punks GREASEMARKS have had a hell of a year for a bunch of supposed ner' do wells- signing to L.A. Rockin’ label WILD Records, putting out a hot self-titled album to both controversy & critical acclaim, and stepping up from burnin’ local barns to the biggest international stages - Vegas, Nashville, L.A., Brockville, they've hit them all this year... Like Spicoli hiring Van Halen for his birthday party, Greasemarks aren’t going to do anything sensible with the spoils of moderate rockabilly success - like paying off debt - they’re throwing the biggest ROCKIN’ HALLOWEEN Party this town has seen! Bringing one of the absolute WILDEST bands on the international rockabilly the scene up from Santa Ana, California - THE DESPERADOS - & gettin’ the biggest local dogs to make sure the party goes all night!

Toronto x Montreal rapper, Patrik, drops two releases to preview his forthcoming EP, Spadina, including the bright new track, Diamonds, and visuals for his single, StayLone (prod. By Retro). Diamonds will appear on Spadina, set for release on November 9. The song launches Patrik into album mode, as he makes his rounds in the city to share insight on the process, recently appearing in an interview segment on YTV’s The Zone. Check it out here, and stream Diamonds for a sample of the new record.

“Diamonds is about the way we marvel at materialism. We always believe that having more makes us happy. So, Diamonds is to talk about how we can have so much material belongings & still be dead inside,” Patrik says of the single.

“The Spadina EP is me reminiscing of all the important lessons & experiences I’ve had through my youth into adulthood while growing up on Toronto,” Patrik continues. “The stories that have built me to be who I am today, as well as the wisdom I have to share with the people who listen to it.”

Meet Royal Prospect - Sweden's Spotlight Sensation

Fresh off their blistering set of performances at LiveAtHeart Festival, the rapid-rising Swedish arena-rock sensation, Royal Prospect, have everything aligning for them to close the year out with a bang. Their fresh new single "Soldier" injects upbeat electro-pop into an energetic piano-driven hand clapper, with quick & catchy transitions fronted by the smooth vocals of lead singer Oscar Reingsdahl; it's no wonder Royal Prospect are making waves at industry spotlights around the globe. I caught up with Oscar who had this to say about their new single:

"We actually wrote this song quite long ago. It’s been around two years since we first played it live and like many of our other songs, Soldier was written with the live performance in focus. We wanted a song that could explode during our live sets. Soldier is about taking a leap of faith, even though you don’t know exactly what the outcome will be, but really just trust your gut. It’s about how we sometimes find ourselves in situations that we don’t know whom or what we should put first. The uncertainty of what happens if I go this way, or that way. Life will always come right at you with loads of different decisions, whether it’s about love or other huge areas regarding and affecting your life”.
