Tis the Season to be Grateful

Christmas has always been my favourite time of year, my Mum was the best at keeping the holiday spirit and hopefully, now she has passed on, I can do the same for my children. Christmas at the Grahams was amazing and I still can close my eyes and be back there in my dreams. Montreal is a magical city at any time of year, but especially through the holidays, when the decorations are abundant and lovely.

My first child was born on Christmas Day, and he has been a blessing in my life and along with his little brother, they have been the best thing I have ever done in my life.

And now to the Cashbox Team; the reason we can turn out great issues week after week is really all about the team. My Editor, writer extraordinaire Lenny Stoute, who talks me into being a publisher every week, Gillian FitzGibbon, who takes the words and my ‘stickmen’ graphics and makes us look as good as any high end magazine out there. Then there are the writers, my big brother Don Graham, who no sooner gets one issue done and he is standing in the office saying ‘what’s the cover next week?”, thank goodness for him and his timelines. Michael Williams, who adds the soul in the city element to our content, and Ian Robertson who is out there on the street with the indies and keeps us young in content. Mark Smith has recently joined the group, and we are grateful for his new, fresh approach at stories. Chris Wardman, who takes all of our stories every week and gets them online for us – on time and looking slick. Without these people there would be Cashbox Canada and I thank them for their devotion to me personally and to the music.

The industry folks who support us to keep us believing we are doing a good thing, Kathy Hahn, Yvonne Valnea, Jane Harbury, Irene Carroll, Anya Wilson, Shannon Martin to name a few.

We are in our fifth year now and we continue to keep our mandate strong; honour the legacy artists who made it happen and give the indies a chance to get some press and have their music heard. This business is not for the faint hearted and although we try very hard to support the artists, we need support in return to keep Cashbox Canada alive and thriving, so we thank all who have done that for us this past year.

So this Christmas season, try to be a little kinder to each other and be grateful for all we have. I know I am.  Merry Christmas from the Cashbox team to all of you.
