Calgary, AB  Chronograph Records has announced the newest addition to the Chronograph Records roster, Edmonton Jazz Group; A/B Trio.

A/B Trio formed after a chance studio session three years ago brought the band members; Dan Davis (saxophone), Thom Bennett (drums & cymbals) and Keith Rempel (double bass) together. The chemistry between the three musicians was immediate, and grows stronger each day. As a result, the trio’s format is fresh, and their music is accessible and compelling.

The A/B Trio’s sound in inspired by the open sounding, chordless groups of Sonny Rollins and Joshua Redman, as well as the work of Chris Potter and Ari Hoenig. Their material ranges from inventive re-interpretations of standards, to modern, original repertoire and high-energy groove-based music.

Translating this chemistry into an exciting debut album, 'Take No Prisoners' is a vibrant and exciting mix, played with reckless abandon. The album features special guests, pianist; Chris Andrew, guitarist Mo Lefever, and Bob Tildsley on trumpet on three of the eight tracks, seven of which are original compositions. Each piece of music features the individual talents of the band members as well as demonstrates the dynamism of the trio. The music ranges from contemporary grooves to driving swing, and expressive ballads.
