The River’s Edge Steve Rivers
Submitted by Don Graham
Steve Rivers is part of the new breed of young country artists emerging on the scene today. It’s country music, but with an edge. That doesn’t mean it’s pop or mainstream, it’s more like a cross between Creedence Clearwater, Bruce Springsteen, The Allman Brothers and Hank Sr.
Splitting his time between Nashville and Ontario, the Canadian native is working hard to carve out a place for himself in the ultra competitive country market. When asked what sets him apart Rivers says ” Hopefully my songs and my stage show. We try every night to give the folks their money’s worth and try and write what’s in my heart, and in the show we try and make the crowd feel like they are a part of the show.”
He also takes his songwriting seriously and has learned that as the late great Steve Goodman once said “ Songwriting is mostly observation and putting down what you’ve observed in verse form.” When he’s in Nashville, Rivers says he often will drive across state lines, get out of town and observe different lifestyles and people. His songwriting credits are growing and include writing with Frank Myers who wrote I Swear,Tomorrow, My Front Porch Looking In, Danny Wells, credited with Check Yes Or No, These Days, Stan Webb writer of We're From the Country, One of These Days But Not Tonight, Drawn To the Fire, Tim Taylor known for Ten Million Tear Drops, My Way, One Smokey Rose and upcoming artists Donny Anderson, Heidi Raye, Aaron J Goodvin, Alyssa Bagley, Jesse Slack, Dakota Jay, and Drew Gregory. Steve’s recent cuts include “You Can Make It On Your Own” by US country artist Amanda Nagurney and “Girls Get In Free” by Canadian band Kerosene Creek.
His new album entitled Temptations, was done in Nashville and co-produced by Jimmy Dulin. The album features 10 songs about the temptations we all face. Temptations of love and the wild side of life. Steve Rivers’ latest singles “Mess It Up” is being played on multiple radio stations across Canada and parts of the USA, so phone your local radio station request Steve Rivers. And make sure you get a copy of his new record ‘Temptations’. Keep an eye out for Steve to be performing in your town or a town near you.
Make sure you get to the Rivers Edge!
